I was wondering about these new amd chips with the 266 fsb.
200 thunderbirds are running at 100 fsb double pumped right?

so 266 is 133 double pumped?

If this is correct, will a Abit KT7A Raid - Via KT-133A run a 266 tbird?

I was hoping someone might explain the diffrence a bit.
Also, is pga the same as socket a ?

Thank you.

Yes

I was hoping someone might explain the diffrence a bit.

They are the same chips, only a different muliplier. Forinstance a 1.2G/200 is 12x100MHz, while a 1.2GHz/266 Chip is 9x133MHz

No - they are both socket standards, but they have different physical dimensions and electrical specifications - just in case you were wondering, you cannot plug a celeron or a piii in a AMD mobo

Thank you.

Okay thanks for the info. I was on newegg.com and see thunderbird chips refered to as

AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.33GHz 266MHz Bus Socket A PGA Processor-

that's why i was asking what the difference between pga and socket a is.

Some of the chips are called socket a only. Sounds like it's the samething.

Thanks.
