I installed 98se/98lite, XPproSP1 & server 2003 with APIC disabled in the BIOS to see in an effort to get a better overclock.

When 2003 is installed with APIC enabled it can see any hard drive partitions properly formatted and connected to the system. But when I installed it without APCI support it can't see any partition file system that wasn't formatted by it (2003 wo/apic) and just sees them as Healty non formatted patitions without any data.

OTOH XP wo/apic has no issues and can see all the drives and their data.

Both 2003 and XP are on install formatted NTFS paritions and all the other partitions are FAT32.

Anyone else see anything like this?

Which HAL's (Hardware Abstraction Layer) are Server 2003 and XP using with APIC disabled? :)

How do I find it?

The device manager says it's an APIC PC even though I installed with APIC off. I can see both HDs on the DM HD tab and in 'computer management'. It just can't read the file system or data of previously formatted partitions irregardless of the file system. This is still true even after I turned the BIOS APIC back on.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that...Device Manager | Expand "Computer" to show the installed HAL. :)

I think I'm just going to reinstall all OS with APIC on next time. s2k3's add/remove windows components doesn't work either so a reinstall is the best option. The more I install them, the better I get setting them up the way I really like them.

Update:

I reinstalled with APIC enabled in the BIOS.

It's all good now
