At the moment I am running a XP2400 but I have PC2100 memory. I have had trouble getting this sys to run past a 140 FSB, and I assume the memory is at fault.
I know it is better to OC with as high a FSB as possible, but would it be worth running a lower FSB and higher multiplier to get a faster clock? It seems that this would help avoid the slow memory issue for the moment, until I can afford to upgrade the memory.
At the moment I am running 140x15 for 2100mhz @1.7v
Thanks for the input.

Don't go too high with Vcore but don't be too shy (n)either:

2100+ AIUHB 0248
256MB Crucial PC2100 + 2x 256MB Kingston (Hynix chip) PC2100 @ 6 3 3 2
[152] FSB x 15 = 2280 MHz @ 1.8 Vcore
with memory frequency at 100% [152] @ 2.77 Vdimm

Epox 8RDA+
Thermalright SK-7 with variable speed 80x25mm YS-Tech FD1281259B-2F
BFG GeForce4 Ti4200 8X 128MB; Antec SX-835II case ; 350W Antec SmartPower SL350

If your memory can handle the heat turn up your VDIMM, you should be able to get your ram to higher FSBs with tighter timings.
Or just crank it to the max and kill your DIMMs so you have an excuse to buy faster ones :D.

So, to follow up with a sucess story- I finally had a good BFO (blinding flash of the obvious) about the whole overclocking picture. By adjusting the FSB/RAM ratio (currently @ 5/3) I was able to push my FSB to 220! Currently P95 stable @ 220x10.5 for 2310mhz (although running a bit hot)

Pretty happy!

Yeah, yup, I was pretty happy with my 208 FSB an' my PC2100 RAM until I discovered that in real life 100% in sync is what it's all about, not benchmark scores. Again, towards the end of this thread, I saw the light and went back to 152 FSB:
