Simple Question About 80mm Case Fans

And the question is!...

Will running the case fans at only 5Volts instead of the 12Volt rail degrade there life span over time or do you think it would actually lengthen there life span.

All I can say is that running a 80mm fan at 5V instead of the 12V reduces the noise to like 100% quiet almost and the fans are still providing air flow.

Any suggestions? BTW, this was too easy to do, i just used the black and red power cords instead of the black and yellow :D

Problem with using 5 volts is that some fans wont start up at that voltage, 7 volts is a better option. (Using a Rheostat is the best option)
