View Full Version : Old good thunderbird at high temps! Help!
Got the Althlon with SuperOrb and temps rize higher than 50 C in the games
such as Wolfenstein 3d (!!!) and Undying, but 32 under no load.
Any thoghts how to drop 'em down, guys?
Everything is welcomed.
by the way it's 750@1000 1.83 VCore
Well, u could get another cooler. The super Orb isn't a very good cooler, get something like the WBK38.
Do u have some case cooling? If not, get some fans to blow and suck the air through ur case.
Do u use Artic Silver?

Thermal interface - is the die and cooler coupling a parallel and smooth one enhanced by a conservative amount of thermal grease ?
And as scotter states - a better cooler would help. Taisols are a good balance between cooling and low noise. Try their new copper slugged model perhaps.

Or wait a little bit and get the Millennium Thermal Copper Glaciator, which totally kicks Taisol, or any other HSF, butt. And at $40.
Yes , but after X-termopasting my Orb , temps went down to 31 idle 48 work,
thanks for the advice, but I have found something more interesting: look and
check this:
Hey you need to replace your power supply to a good name brand 300watt
I just had the same dam problem . First off i was getting 50 c to 58 c and sometimes as high as 62 c for my cpu temp. my case temp went as high as 45 c. running a tbird slot a 900mhz. sometimes i was getting lock ups while playing intensive games. first i thought it was my software ,operating system, then i went to my video card then Ram . then i changed my power supply and now my temps are 32 c Case 39 C for cpu. Those temps are running the computer intensively. they were even lower then that , but today my GFD came in and i overclocked my cpu to 1000mhz. its running great now. I went to comp Usa and paid 40 bucks for their power supply and stuck it in my case and it was awful ,plus the computer shut down at random times. I went back and bought their A open brand 300watt PS for 60 bucks that supposed to be for P4's. Good luck
