View Full Version : O/Ced Duron, some heat/mobo troubles
I just recently OCed my Duron to 1000mhz from 800, a pretty decent raise, I don't plan on bringing it up any further. A problem i'm witnessing right now is that music is crackling over the speakers, a weak crackling, but i'm a perfectionist and I don't appreciate it much. What could be the problem you think? Heat? Too much power in there or too little? I'm running on an A7V and I believe I have it set at 1.75 Volts right now, about to set it down to 1.7 and see if that fixes things. My card is a Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer. The CPU seemed to be running fine at 1.75 volts, it sais on my monitor that the CPU is running at approx 46 Celsius and the Mobo 36 C. Thanks for any help.
you are in the right way. Try to putr the core to 1,7.
My duron 650@1000 1,7V in A7V is working perfect
48ºC full load. not bad.
go overclocking.

I don't believe that your problem is heat related.
Could you please supply the information found here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=8&TID=18575&SID=57825)?
You stated in your post that you were going to try a different Vcore setting, did that help?
The following is a direct quote from Via : "... unless the card is allowed to hog the PCI bus when it wants to output sound, the sound stream is subject to sporadic interruption and this is what you hear as crackling,"
There are some work arounds, and you may or may not be experiencing this issue. The situation is more pronounced with an overclocked video card, that requires a lot of system memory bandwidth.
If you still require assistance, provide as much system info. as possible, and we'll try to help.

what are some possible solutions? Didn't get the crackling prior to the O/Cing of my Duron, before Overclock session there was no such thing as crackling, just a flawless system. All I did was up the voltage core which is reading as 1.87V ... wtf, heh, it SHOULD be 1.7V, something is wrong... hey hey, found the problem? lesee.

i thnk it's the sound card''s problem
sound blaster can't take that much pci clock speed
i had that happen once or twice but once i lowered the fsb then it is ok
i didn't change the FSB though, they FSB is definately at 100, i only changed the multiplier for the Duron.
even after my change of Voltage.... so it's not voltage? Maybe I should bring it down some more then.
