View Full Version : AMD CPU Temperature
I have been trying to find the normal temp. for AMD CPUs for a while on the internet to no avail. Does anyone happen to know what kind of temperature range is normal/safe for a non-OCed AMD Tbird CPU (800mhz specifically)?
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Forget about AMD's upper limit. You can find a comfortable temperature for your processor here (http://www.overclockers.com/tips400/). The link will also give you the 'perilously close to meltdown' temps. as well.

im running a slot a -overclocked 1000mhz t-bird with a crappy fan and heatsink .but i just bought a brand name 300watt PS which you might want to look into for lower temps
i run at 1.85 volts
32-34 C for Case
min 35.5-42 max cpu
I have a non-O/C'd 800 myself. It depends on several factors for my temps. I have a coolmaster HSF and under load it can get up to 52c. This is a little too hot for me, I prefer upper 40's at the most. My problem is that the mobo sensor for the top half of my mobo is showing only 12c lower than the CPU temps (this seems to be average)...SO...the mobo @ 40c is much hotter then most other people's...I guess my mobo just sucks (which it does)
i'm looking at 49*-51* currently with the rig below.
the NB & SB are 18*-22*
i think ideal temps depend upon circumstances, such as..
600@1000 vs. 700@1000 or 1.6v vs. 1.85v
see where i'm going with this?
if 90* is AMD's dead temp, regardless of what my O/C is....
i want temps of NO HIGHER than 40*-42* fully loaded.
that's just my opinion. i think 35* would be nice!
personally, this has been quite frustrating so far...
i don't know if i can even get low as 48* at 1.85v w/133fsb tho...
seems the iWill boards run hotter, and no matter what i do, i can't get much temp diff in this chip. i think i'll try a GW FOP38 untill i can set up a watercooler, but like i said... will it even help?
i'm pretty skeptical at this point as to what contact is made from core to hsk
perhaps therein my problem lies, but little i can do, i guess? aside from a new hsk. tried to lapp better, no change, tried tension on clip, no change.
