Hello everyone.

I just burned a bunch of CD's from my Cd collection BUT they don't work in my car stereo. I've burned cd's 6-9 months ago on the same CD burner and those cd's play.

I'm using a Samsung 40X12X40 cd burner with NERO 5.510 last version but with some Bulk packaged cd's from Best buy.
The copy speed was at 16X and the cdr's play fine in my personal walkman.

I would suspect the media FIRST. some CD players are very touchy about the quality of CD-R disks.

You might be able to get the media to work at a slower speed.

Just tried a lower speed of 8X and no go, it even plays in my daughters cheapo boombox.....!!!!

Going to try some DIFFERENT media

Perhaps the car stereo is going on the fritz. Does it still play the older discs you've burned?

Yes it does play the older cr's, I just played a bunch on the way home..

The old cr's were "BLUE"colored vs. Silver on the writing surface and were Maxell 74 min capacity.

I'm going to try to burn another compilation to a "BLUE" backed cdr but I have to start over since they're only 74 min capacity and my 3 images are between 76-79 min long.

Try that newer media on somebody else's rig. See if it works then. If so, maybe the burner is due for a replacement. They're so doggone cheap nowadays, I love it.

Besides the speed/quality of your media, it could be that the CD player does not work with the type of CD that you are using..

Some CDRoms don't know how to play CDRWs..just like a CD drive doesn't know how to play a DVD..hope this helps.. :-/

Thanks everyone,
I know this car stereo plays CDR's, I 'm begining to thinks that its the NEWER media that it doesn't like. All the CDR's that it plays all have a BLUE finish on the data side and are all 74 min CDR's.
I have to go track down some of these Blue 74min puppies and just stay using them, I ran out 6 months ago and all the stores had were the newer 80min with Clear or silver finish on the data side.

You might also try updating the firmware for the CD-RW drive since this will also update the media lookup table which gives the recorder information about how to properly burn the disk.

This is the correct answer. Darker colored CD-Rs aren't as reflective to near-IR laser light as clear audio CDs are. This makes them a bit harder to read in some players. Look for high speed CD-Rs, which tend to be lighter in color (less blue or green), thus more reflective, and more liable to play.

Well I installed the NEW firmware, it was pretty recent from July 2003 and it didn't help.
I just tried another batch of bulk CDr's, they were rated at 16X and THEY WORKED!!!!! They have a silver background and I had to burn at 8X, just weird- it must just be the media.

The REAL answer is to get a NEW car stereo that plays everything including mp3's and CDr's so I'm going to check it out at my local stereo shop.

Thanks for all the help everyone

Why not burn at 1x?

Well I don't think the SPEED is the issue,

This Friday I'm having a NEW Pioneer CD/radio installed it is guaranteed to play the cd's and RW's as well as MP3's, YES!!!!
