View Full Version : How can you tell what speed your processor is from the factory?

forgive me, but I'm an *gasp* old Intel guy, so all this AMD stuff is new to me.

Here's what I did, I ordered a barebone from MWave, AMD T-bird 1200 Asus A7M mobo 256MB PC133, ElanVital case 300w ps. I get it home, install my GeForce2, throw my hd in, and viola, 900Mhz. Went into BIOS, turned the multiplier up as well as setting the fsb to 133. Got it to 1400, then dropped it down to what it *should* be (1200) as I don't have all my fans and such in yet.

Since I have a new cpu fan and wanted to apply some better thermal paste to it, I checked my chip to see what code it had (AXIA), as well as looked for any indication of what the actual speed of the proc is. Found a yellowish sticker on the underside of the proc that says 1266 with a subset 30 to the right of it. Is this the *actual* speed of my proc, or is there something else I have to look for to get its speed.

Thanks in advance...

look at the die,
the first line reads...
D700AUT1B on mine
A1200****C on yours... right?
the number after the "A" <athlon> is the rated speed.

B= 200mhz fsb
C= 266 fsb

by the way...
sounds like a really smokin' system ya got there!
what was your total after shipping? if i may ask :)

anyways, good luck O/C'ing that bad boy!
hope you post back with results.

if ya want, post the entire code from the die, and i'll give you as much info on that chip as i can.

Fusion,

Check this URL on Tom's hardware. It is slightly outdated but still useful. Maybe somebody have an updated link.

Hope it helps
