Which CPU?

Gotta get one of these quick for my prommy aiming for 2.7ghz or higher.

AMD Athlon XP1800+1.53GHZ 266 Tbred (Tray)(DLT3C:JIUHB:0311MPMW)
AMD Athlon XP2100+ 1.73GHZ 384K 266 Tbred B (TRAY) (AIUHB:0302)
AMD Athlon XP1700+ 1.47GHZ 384K 266 Tbred B (TRAY) (JIUHB:0302)

Would rule out the Xp1700+ as its a dut3c (dlt3c are much better) .

Xp1800+ looks good to me, dlt3c , 1.5v stock Vcore and seems to be doing well so far.

Would you not try an Xp2500+ ?? I got one of em and hit 2.5ghz with water cooling - and that wasent a great Aqxea Xp2500+.

2500+ does not oc as well as the 1700+,1800+m,2100+ i seen someone with a mach ii thats about -46c on a 2500+ @ 2.6ghz which totally sux

I would say the 2100 or the 1800. I have the same 1800 and am at 2400mhz right now.

1800+ DLT3C's are the top performers right now by quite a bit.

thats one person.. there are a good number of ppl reporting 2.4-2.5 ghz on AIR with a barton.. so i dunno what you'er tlakign about hehe plus the cache is worth a few mhz loss... the 2500+ at newegg are pretty recent steppings so if you were to consider it.. thats a godo place to look

the 0332TPMW over at excaliberpc looks mighty tasty. i bet that puppy ocs to 2400mhz and beyond? every TPMW stepping ive ever seen or had has been a good ocing chip. example my xp1800 0309TPMW ocs to 2400mhz at 1.775v and with better cooling i can only imagine? if you get your self one of these newer steppings bartons youl be happy. i just recently went thru the JIUHB to Barton switch over and i was worried id have to buy like 3 or 4 of them to find one to run atleast 2400mhz? well i must of gotten lucky cause the verry first one i bought ran 2400mhz at defualt v-core(1.65v) and 2500mhz at 1.75v! that is nothing to sneeze at concidering im on air. i can only imagine what my oc would look like with a nice water/pelt cooling system with more v-core? hmmm.... it could get interesting for damm sure! well man good luck hope everything pans out for you.


*edit* well if the thre cpu's you listed are your choices then i would go for the AMD Athlon XP1800+1.53GHZ 266 Tbred (Tray)(DLT3C:JIUHB:0311MPMW) hands down.

The 0302 2100 is iffy.mine only does 2000 mhz stable,allthough my first 0302 did 2400 mhz while at the same temperature.

2 from 3 of my Xp2500+ would hit 2480mhz totally stable. I consider myself lucky with the Aquca to hit that but some the Aqxea's are doing that on air.

If you get the same overclock with a 2500 , the extra cache is going to make it perform better (around 100mhz ish) . The bartons seem to run well with high Vcore aswell , dlt3c's dont like as high (correct me if im wrong).

Personally id try the Xp2500+ , but the Xp1800+ does look very tempting at the min.

well i want the most i can squeeze out of it with my new prommy (didnt buy it yet =D) i am pretty sure that i cant go wrong with the 1800+ since steppings guaranteed but what about the 2500+ i dont want to get stuck on 2.6ghz with phase cooling
