i have an MSI tv tuner card, with a little remote control. i cant get the remote to work. at least i think its the remote. is there any way that i can test the remote to see if its working? could i at least test somehow to see if there is an IR signal coming out of it when i press the buttons? my palm pilot had a program that could detect IR signals, but it is long gone. another thing i thought of, but dont have access to, is one of those night shot camera things. any ideas besides those? thanks?

Some regular camcorders and video cameras will pick up the near infra red.
Got a friend that works at a gas station or other such store with a security camera? Many of those can see a remotes IR diodes light up like they were white LED's. Especially the black and white ones like mine.
Since they are just LED's that are in the IR spectrum, a multimeter at the diode's leads should get a voltage reading when they are supposed to be flashing. At least that can tell you if the remote is powering it's circuitry.
And just one more thing, did you have the IR receiver thingy plugged into the card when you installed the card/drivers? Mine would only work when that was plugged in durring the install, and not after the install.
Hope that helps!

hmm....plugged in during the install...
that i dont know. i think i will give that a try. if that doesnt work, and i can find an easy way to take the remote apart, i will have to try the multimeter on the led leads.
thanks for the ideas.
PS: college parties are great  :attn:!
