I'm new to all this so please bear with me.. I read a couple of posts on unlocking the Athlon for overclocking. They referred to connecting dots on the L1 and some gave some preety good pictures. So I got some defogger, took out my MOBO and popped off the HSF. I look at the die and this is what I see:

L1 .|||| .|| L2
L3 :::|: :|:| L4

Its a factory bridge (I think). Gold, clean and tight. I checked and rechecked to make sure I wasn't seeing things. So what's up here??

This is the chip:

It's probably unlocked. Many 1.2 and 1.33 Tbirds are factory unlocked. I just ordered a 1.2 instead of a 1.0 Ghz just on the chance I might get lucky and get one that is already unlocked. Wish me luck!

double check with a magnifyer to be sure, the laser cuts are'nt really obvious... but i'd say you got a good one there!
