i'm a newcomer amd tb1200 overclocker and normally i've got a problem:
while running WIN ME on my athlon tb1200@1400 or 1200@1430 ( 42°C- case open ) i don't have any problem ( maybe just the 3.3V getting for few seconds 3.618V with the asus temperature utility flashing ) but when i try to get at least 1466mHz win tells me "system error" with a blu screen.
I tryed 133x11 or even 120x12 but i always get the same message.
Vcore voltage now it's set at 1.75 by the bios and i can read 1.84 - 1.856 from the asus utility.
even increasing the voltage i can't get wme@1466 or even @1440. For sure i can't access it at 1500!
My TRap is:
Asus ATV133
384mb sdram
adaptec 2940u2w
ibm dmvs09v 10000rpm
ultraplex 40x
yamaha 4x4x16
matrox g400 dual head
sound blaster live!
Esi- 4000 Sampler on the scsi chain
Iomega zip
250 W Power amd approved ( maybe it'sm this last one the problem ? )

Please help me out .
Maybe i suck like OC but i need speed for making music.( the system above it's NOT enough)
Thanx

I would bet my money on the psu, 250 is ok if you are running stock and don't have alot of drives etc. I would say that with a rig like yours you may want to look into a 400W or so, 350 at the lowest. These procs can suck upwards of 60W of power at stock speed, when you pump up the volts, the watts go up too. Give it a shot and see what happens.

i have to agree with Fiz,
that box is begging you for 400watts, no question.
i'm taxing the heck out of my 300 with not half what you have.
aside from that, i'd bet one piece, if not more of that hardware is just not happy running harder than it is already.
maybe you'd be better off networking two boxes, one for the burner and a few other things... while having the other as a screamer to handle your work.
it does'nt sound to me like a grouping of hardware that was inexpensive...
personally i'd be concerned about stressing it out too much.

Welcome to the forum. That Nickname sounds as if it may be inspired by Stephen King. Tommyknocker? I Definately think the've hit the nail on the head. I suggest also that you may want to remove all but one stick of ram when pushing the envelope.

Thanx everyboby.
I was already thinking to use an old old case to place one or more Psu.
That's definitely what i'm going to do.

this forum seems to be a great place.

Thanx Again

Its RRRAM!!!
Noname?
Change it. Looks like you operate with more than 140 Mhz FSB an your RAM cannot eat data at a good rate, so Win Warns

welcome aboard Cyanide!
sounds like maybe you'd be better off with a big ol' PSU...
as i re-read your hardware list. if you can do another box, entirely.. it would be beneficial to have a machine rock stable for imprtant things like storage, and data transfers, such as burnin' discs.
whereas "pushing the envelope" as you know causes instability at times, or with certain cards, drives, etc...
anyways, i have one good tip for you today. above all else.
get one stick of crucial or mushkin 256mb PC133 SDRAM
as more sticks = more power consumption, and may cause instability...
but also... there is sufficient evidence showing that beyond 256mb leads to negative performance returns.
the Crucial CAS2 RAM is an amazing O/C'er and i think this theory would prove itself worthwhile for you to try out. best of luck to ya!

you also might want to change your cass latency timing to 3 (if it is set at 2). Check in your bios and see what it is set at.
