View Full Version : Thanks Murphy & Dr_Kildare- check out what I got so far
Murphy,
thanks for the tips on the cache settings and on bios version 1008C
Dr_Kildare,
Thanks for telling me where to get bios version 1008C
Here's what I got out of my 650 classic slot A so far--
8.5 x 105 = 893(I rounded up cause it looks better :)
Core V = 1.95
Cache 2/5
memory bus speed = 140 C3
It won't go above 900 and I don't want to push the core volt to 2.05 cause my temps are at 45.5C idle, which probable isn't to bad but I don't want to fry it just yet. I'm gonna let it run like this a little while and see how it works then bump the volts up just to see if it will go over 900.
But that's it--650@ 893 stable so far.
Thanks again
Thanks Tim,
I tried to mail you, but everytime I get a message from AOL your mail is unknown. Anyway, here goes:
Last add: DAMN, problems with AOL, I don't know the guys, but the first time I send this mail, they said: Mailaddress unknown! Well, I try it again.

thanks Murphy,
Sandra identifies it as a K75 Argon
The numbers on CPU are:
210009587821
AMD-K7650MTR51B A
So it looks like it's a week 9 0f 2000 and 0.18 micron.
Correct?
I tried to back the volts down but it won't boot good. I eased off to 861Mhz for now because it will run with 1.85 volts and temps are 40C.
Gives it a better life expectancy:)

Correct indeed. You are lucky with the 0.18um core, it does a great job on OC'ing. Hope you still enjoy your overclock. And, has the need for 'more' got into you yet ... :D ? It's one of the most horrible things around: no more to OC! That's what I've been suffering for quite a while now. Once my exams are over, I'm going to clean my entire setup, apply the silver grease I've got for almost half a year now, but never used it. Also going from 1007 to 1008D bios, and think I go with a lower 2/5 cache multiplyer. At first I was afraid for loss in overall performance, but I think I can max it out.
I'm also going to live on my own (well, actually left the house for more than a month now, but the computer is still there. My new situation is on a flat on the 8th floor with my own balcony. Great oppertunity for a coolingtower!!! Much winds, fresh air, and water is included with the rent ;D But as I'm student chemist, I have free acces to destiled water, so why bother...
Once I've done all of that, guess it's time to make the big jump to palomino/DDR, to boldly go where no overclocker has gone before!
