I already posted in thestick, but no one ever notices those, so here

I also told the client to use 192.168.0.1 as a gateway, still no go.
Ive done this a few times for friends. I've never had any success running ICS reliably. this is a much easier way.
go to analogx.com and download the proxy server that he has there. I've used it for a while now with no problems.
remove ICS.
load analogX on the Pc that will dial up to the internet. Follow the instructions, it's pretty easy. Once installed connect to the internet and start analogX
go to the 2nd Pc and under internet connections select to proxy option and put the IP address of the internet computer.
that should be it. Ther eis a readme there as well that explains this better.
good luck

I just setup a whole network using ICS.
Yes, use 192.168.0.1 on the gateway rig (it will automatically set the gateway computer to this if you enable ICS). Then, assign the other computers that are sharing the computers 192.168.0.x (x is between 2 and 255). Use netmask 255.255.255.0. Set the primary DNS on those computers to 192.168.0.1 and you should be set.
You shouldn't have to touch the router settings. Make sure each computer (including the gateway) is plugged into ports 1-4 on the router.
I really can't think of anything else that would be a problem...

Thanks, I think it was the DNS settings, i never touched them when doing that so I'll try it later on :)

make sure your router itself isn't using the 192.168.0.1 IP address. also, make sure DHCP is off on the router. setup ICS on the computer that dials up. the rest of your computers should be set to automatically detect settings, as the computer that ICS is installed on will act as a DHCP serv for you and assign the information to the other computers.

yup i already said in the post that the router was only being used as a switch and i had already turned off dhcp, so the router dosent have an address its self, but only the computers on the network :)

You shouldn't have to assign any DNS info. When I've set up ICS, there is nothing you have to do for the client computers except have them set to automatically detect settings. I've had to redo it with windows 98 a few times before, that OS is a quirky one.

I agree. You shouldn't have to. Last time, I had to do that to make it work properly though. At least if you give it the exact numbers, it will always (in theory :D ) work.
