i have both of them,, and just redid the L1 on my duron 800,, now i went from 816 to 952, and switched the volcano 7 i had on there with my old alpha pal 6035, and im getting about 7 degree's cooler... reason i got the volcano b4 was for temp cooling and the pal fan broke,, i replaced the pal fan with a generic one,,am getting cooler temps... go fig..

Cool. I have one of those in one of my parents' company computers.

I remember it looked pretty cool, didn't make much noise, but cooled average.

A true blast from the past... even though this is only anecdotal user experience, it may be an indication that heatsink technology has pretty much stagnated in the last years.
I have an Alpha 6035 on my P3 800, since 2000. Of course, it was a top ranking heatsink back then, while that volcano has never been so, but still.
