I'd say 3.9V is pretty suicidal - I'm running at 3.54, the default for my board, but the maximum allowed is 3.69V and I'd consider that pretty damn high. Having said that, my cpu is running at 2.32V now from a default of 1.5V, but then I do have better cooling on the cpu than on things like RAM and PCI cards. I wouldn't run higher than 3.6 for any length of time to be on the safe side. If I were you I'd try to find some other way to get the overclock you want, or settle for a lower speed.
