little help

I was putting around in my BIOS for about 30 minutes looking for some way of fixing my HDD problem. You see Its recognized as a ata 33 but is really a ATA100 I am really stumped on this one.

ASUS nForce2 A7V8X not sure what version
the problem drive is a maxtor 20giger

If anyone knows of a way to get my hdd back to the stock speeds I would appreciate it greatly.

Are you using a 80 conductor cable, and is it plugged in in the corract orientation? Also, if you are using XP, it could be throttled down due to CRC errors in the controller. You can check in Event Viewer.
