View Full Version : sound quality between audigy 2 and audigy 2 ZS?
I'm just curious, I'm a ****ing freak when it comes to sound quality. I play games mostly. Is there any noticeable different? Does EAX 4.0 make a difference?

I'll tell you at the end of the month.. I'm getting a ZS card and the new T7700 speaker setup as I am moving my puter from my living to my bedroom which means no more HiFi 6.1 sound on coax cable..

i would say in terms of sound quality there will be minimal difference between the audigy 2 and the ZS, as the ZS is the 7.1 verison of the audigy 2

Have you compared the audigy 2 to other cards directly or are you just another hater?
The audigy 2 was a great step in the right direction for Creative, its a great card unlike everything before it.

a step in the right direction? it's bloat. it has to many features and bloated drivers. not to mention odd issues with crackling. as far as quality of product creative is low on the list. very low. a step in the right direction you say... when you're on the bottom what direction can you go?
if you're an audio nut then ultimate gaming audio isn't really a tough one. creative cards are the best for gaming. thing is most games aren't sample and mixed at audiophile grade so gaming isn't a terribley daunting task for sound hardware.
try DVD playback or recording from a line in. try realistic surround sound.
for what you want an audigy 1 should be enough. games aren't that sophisticated when it comes to sound quality. an m-audio would sound good in most cases but is incompatible with certain games and i can't recommend it to someone that's all about gaming.
the only difference between these two cards is the zs is 7.1 surround and the increased the clock on the DSP, which does absolutely nothing.

Agreed, Creative cards are the best for gaming because of the games' support of EAX, they're not the best made sound cards in the world but if you're a 100% gamer they're the only way to go pretty much
I would have gotten an Audigy 1 but I managed to find an audigy 2 for $55 (retail) so I got that, I play with earphones anyway so I don't care if the card is 5.1 7.1 or 9.1... most gamers play with earphones cos speakers can't immense you with sound as much as good earphones can
