Ok, I need help with this. I just got BF1942 and i'm having problems. I've got Win XP Home. I've got the latest Catalyst drivers. I've downloaded the 1.45 patch for the game.
Now, I install the game apply the patch and I can usually start the campaign and play 1 or 2 levels. But when i get to the 3rd or 4th level it won't load. It just crashes and exits the program.
I've now uninstalled it for a 3rd time and i got frustrated and haven't installed it again yet. The game seems great if i could go past the 4th level!
I've only got 1 idea of what could be wrong left. I think the laser in my cd drive is getting weak and it's not loading the game quite right. Does this seem like it could be the problem? Any other ideas of what could be the problem?
HELP!

or your overclock might not be 100% stable. You might want to throttle back your overclocking and see if that helps ....both for the GPU and CPU.

Oh, forgot to mention. Whenever I load something or add a patch I always back down my overclock. The program was loaded without an overclock every time. :( I wish it was that easy.

Your CPU isn't taking much voltage for it's overclock. Generally too low voltage means an unstable gaming experience...
Can you complete 3DMark without crashing?

ok I asked if you could run the game successfully at stock rates...... downloads and the likes are totally diffirent if the overclocked had effected or currupted the files durring down load you wouldn't have been able to install them you would have received error messages.
We are trying to eliminate all the possible causes for you so please drop everything to stock, see if you can run the game and report back. Then if it runs you know you have an unstable Overclock if it doesn't run then we can move on to the next line of thought ....... but two other people have mentioned the same points...... If your not prepared to follow advice and report back stop posting for advice! Sorry if i seem alittle peaved but it just annoys me.

What the heck! Where did that come from? I don't have the luxury of sitting infront of my computer all day long waiting for a response! GGGrrrrr. Thread crapper!
Back on topic. No, once i had the problem the first time I uninstalled the program, restarted the computer, and turned EVERYTHING back to stock. Once Windows loaded back up I reloaded it, applied the patch and then tried to play it and had the same problem. Then just left off the overclock.
My best guess is still the cd drive. I'm going to go get another burner today on lunch. I've been having some really odd problems with that thing anyway. It'll do things like burn 1 track audio cd's and stuff like that. I even had a problem just like this when loading UT2K3.
Back off topic: This is processor works very well without a lot of voltage. It'll even go to 200x10 at stock voltage 1.65v. It's a very good one.

If it is a voltage/overclock problem, the easy way to check is to reset your CMOS, and run everything at stock, until you sort the problem out.
BF1942 installs can be glitchy, especially if you have any mods fitted to the game.
Each time a new patch comes out, my BF1942 gets a fresh install. It goes like this.......
BF1942
Road To Rome
Secret Weapons of WWII (includes the 1.45 patch)
Desert Combat
Eve of Destruction
Galactic Conquest
Pirates
Siege
Forgotten Hope

I have been around the forums long enough to know that thread crapping isn't the way to go ..... also It wasn't a thread crap it was a statement about your lack of responses to the questions asked

So saying that "you don't have the luxury of sitting infront of my computer all day long waiting for a response" when the response had already been given both to your first question and then also your response to our answer kind of makes my point more valid.

Have you checked the actual disk for faults? or cleaned the disk and drive recently? If you have a alot of fans in your case you can create negative pressurre inside the case which will cause air to be pulled into the case from every little gap ......and CD drives seem to be a magnet for dust when this happens. I use the Vacume cleaner on lowest setting at least once a month and then throw in a CD cleaner afterwards. Worth doing if its a DVD drive if not then just buy a Bulk drive and try that ..... CD drives are so cheap that if it's not the cause it won't dent your pocket so bad.

Hey Fareast, I'm so glad you keep responding. And i'm sorry i didn't respond in your time frame. I'll try better next time.
I put the new Drive in and it loaded just fine. Stayed up pretty late last night playing it. Great game. Really love that Desert add on.
