I just upgraded my processor to a 2600+ with a 266 fsb. I have a giga-byte ga-7dxr mobo. I have the lastest bios upgrade. I used cpuid to check on it and it only shows as a 2000+. Any ideas would be helped. thanks

Yeah

[133] FSB x 12.5 = Athlon XP 2000+
[166] FSB x 12.5 = Athlon XP 2600+

You better have some PC2700 RAM for this CPU.
PC2100 RAM is 133 FSB
PC2700 RAM is 166 FSB

Good luck man.

this processor is suppose to be a 266 fsb not a 333. You telling me that I got the wrong processor??

How to read an OPN

Example:

AXDA 3200 D K V 4 E

AXDA Architecture Segment:
AXDA = AMD Athlon™ XP Processor ("Barton"/"Thoroughbred")
AX = AMD Athlon™ XP Processor ("Palomino")
3200 Model Number: 1500+ to 3200+ and above
D Package Type: D = OPGA
K Operating Voltage:
L = 1.50V
U = 1.60V
K = 1.65V
M = 1.75V
V Die Temperature:
T = 90 Degrees Celsius
V = 85 Degrees Celsius
4 Size of L2 Cache:
3 = 256KB
4 = 512KB
E Max FSB:
C = 266MHz <<<<<
D = 333MHz <<<<<
E = 400MHz

most likely your fsb is wrong you would need to bump that up.. usually the mobo gets the default multiplier right but has the fsb wrong

There are four 2600+ for your information:

2.133 GHz 266 FSB T-Bred B 256 KB cache
2.083 GHz 333 FSB T-Bred B 256 KB cache
1.917 GHz 333 FSB Barton 512 KB cache
and
2.083 GHz 333 FSB Thor(n)ton. 256 KB cache (with extra 256 KB cache disabled)

thanks for the info everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that it was the wrong processor. I got the 333 instead of the 266 I am getting the 266 tomarrow Friday (10/02/03.) Thanks again all
Tom Owens
