View Full Version : My temps can't be right - can they????
I've just got hold of a 1.2Ghz AXIA Tbird, I'm running it at 1400 (10*140 @ 1.825) on a KT7A-Raid board.
I'm using a Fop32 + case fan blowing onto the heatsink/down the back of the mobo, under load it's never got above 40C. My temp while just surfing is 26C....What the hell is going on, my Duron 800 @ 1050 was around 39C doing the same.
(I've added 5C to mbm to make sure that I don't burn my new cpu)
I'm not all that familiar with the Fop 32. But those temps don't seem all that unrealistic! You have to remember, The durons have a smaller die so the heat produced is a little harder to disipate then they are with the T-Birds. That would explain why your temps are so much lower.
Welcome to the forum!
temps do look a wee bit low. could be that the fan blowing down the back of the mobo is cooling the back of the socket, and therefore the thermistor. speaking of that... did you bend the thermistor up so it makes contact with the back of the cpu? if not, do that and you'll see a sharp rise in temperatures.

Try Proze's advice - and also try putting a dab of thermal compound (like Arctic Silver) on the thermistor to help the conduction of heat between the back of the cpu and itself. Apparently that works well, I wouldn't know cos my A7V doesn't have a thermistor you can bend up :-(
hey is that WinXP in the background
Tbirds benefit from halt-on-idle. Without a hack, the Durons do not. That is why your temps are lower doing simple tasks like reading email, surfing the Web, etc. Under high CPU load, halt-on-idle has much less (if any) effect.
Hoot
Itīs a very low temp-.
but not bad at all.
