Overclocking 500 help

I have a Compaq with an Athlon 500 (SLOT A). I wanted better perfornace for not a lot of money. If I get a new mobo, how far can this o/c and can I unlock the multiplier? Thanks

Although you can overclock that CPU it is effectively a dead upgrade path and it is somthing I would attempt on your current mobo, but you will need to buy a GFD. However should you need to buy a new mobo I would suggest a Abit KT7E mobo and a Duron 800 which are both reasonably priced and should take you right up to around 1 Ghz and give you future upgrade options
