just received a 2.4c from UPS.

it's SL6Z3, the newest M0 stepping!
3326 costa rica

anyone had this?? how's it clock up? i read from Intel, their thermal gudieline is higher than the D1 stepping...which means....good or bad....

Cool. This will be interesting. Since this is a brand new stepping I doubt many people have tried it out yet. Traditionally, new Intel steppings mean better overclocking. Good luck.

Rio >> yeah, i should've look "at least" a little down before posting....:p but that's what happen when you are at work and sneaking on the web....

Batboy >> i sure hope so too! in fact, it's for my sister's new XPC box! but i guess it will be a waste since it can only support max. 255FSB which i don't think it'll have any problem to reach.. i might swap out my old 2.4c @ "only" 3.33 with water and see if it will do any better....

so far so good. had been running 1 Prime95 + 1 SETI client at the same time since last night @ 3.4Ghz with 1.56-1.58 actual voltage (BIOS set 1.6v just for the safe side). up trying higher tonight and see if it can reach 3.5Ghz w/ relative low (1.6v) voltage.....;)

on the other hand, my old 2.4C is happily sitting in my sister's new Shuttle XPC running the max. FSB the mobo support, 255FSB @ 3.06Ghz @ stock v. :)

what board is this on and hwo are you cooling it. what are temps, defualt voltage OC and best OC? it looks like a promissing chip but doesnt look all to exciting from the first D1 2.4c chips. my week 9 malay L SL6WF 2.4c can do 270fsb or 3.24ghz on defualt and 285fsb or 3.42 at 1.575v bios settings on a p4c800 D. with a slk900u. best OC is 300fsb or 3.6ghz but not prime stable just windows. i can get some sandra benchies at 295fsb 3.54ghz but again not prime stable. prime is stable at 285fsb 3.42ghz
im not trying to rain on your parade i just want to know what the big deal about this new stepping.

honestly, i don't think it's such a "much better" OC stepping at all!! 'cos there's quite a good percentage of 2.4c could reach this w/out any problem like your week9, or some week10, for example. but it does run much cooler than the D1 stepping, at least that's in my case. there's about 3-5c difference at same voltage w/ same watercooling at same speed! my old 2.4c at 3.3 w/ 1.625v is about 9-11c above mobo temp. the new SL6Z3 is only about 4-6c above it! i think the new stepping could be a better aircooled chip than the older stepping. but top speed isn't much of the difference, means like 100mhz more less.

yeah, it's as much as like 4-5c difference in my WC and i'm talking about under 100% load. that could make a quite good difference for those whose OC'ing it on air!

i didn't have much time to play with it the last couple days, just let it sitting at 3.4 and crunching seti for me. i did tried to boot into Windows at 3.5ghz, but i guess my Corsair PC3200LL doesn't like it anymore at 5:4 ratio even w/ 2.5-3-3-6 timing...(but at 3.4, it's doing 2-3-2-6-4 5:4 ratio w/ no problem at all) i sure will try it w/ 3:2 ratio to see if it's really the memory or it's the chip (which i hope not!).

So is it good for overclocking?

I just bought one - and I can't return it. I was hoping to get one of those magical "D1" chips, but got this new SL6Z3 "M0" chip.

Can it be overclocked to 3.2 or 3 with stock Intel cooling?

you will have very very high chance to do 3-3.2Ghz w/ stock cooling at stock voltage!! good luck and let us know how yours doing!! ;)
