Hey,

One week ago I was fired from my sys admin job for no good reason except for the fact that I had put in for a review (meaning raise) and the powers at be probably decided to kick me out for a less expensive solution such as out sourcing.

I was glad to hear that their computers were crashing all week after I had been relieved of my duties....

Now for the important stuff >> My production...

There are over 20 rigs with FAH still folding at my former job but I don't know how long it will last since I'm not there to keep things running smoothly. I still have at least 25 cpu's that will be folding and possibly more as soon as I can get some time to do some borging.

My apologies to the team and my worthy competitors that have been coming up. I will unfortunately be a dead fish until I can go find another job and try to talk them into allowing a borg-fest.

Anyone know of some good IT work in Los Angeles PM me. :D

I'll be back more when I can finally wrangle an Internet connection at the new apartment and find work.

Cheers to 32,

Wedo

I'm very sorry to hear this news, wedo. Good luck in your search for work, and especially work where you can borg. Keep your chin up though. Monster.com helped me find local IT jobs.....

I can scan the Austin, Tx area, but I thought you just moved anyway, and you probably wouldn't want to relocate.

Wedo sorry to hear about the job... But weren't you wanting to bail anyhow? I hope so! Maybe this will get you to the better job man. I will keep my ears open, I may have something, I need to check it out. PM me.

Man, I can't say anything that would make you feel any better about the whole situation, but I do know where you are coming from. I'm 24 and making exactly HALF what I was making at 19. The IT market simply sucks nowdays... I've heard that it's getting better, but that's been the buzz for over a year and I've not seen much improvement.

I'm really sorry about your job, if I hear of anything out there I'll let you know. I used to have a bunch of contacts in the bay area, but I doubt that would help anymore =/.

Anyway... good luck on the job search.

Sorry to hear about the job situation, but I'm sure you'll find something. On top of that, in my experience, a job change always results in higher income. So in the long run that means you'll be buying smaller and faster machines and increasing your output. So good luck and don't worry too much.

Companies are rather arrogant now about treating people poorly when they think there's ten more at the door wanting your job for less. They're finding out it isn't as easy as they thought it would be to replace you. What goes around comes around.

It sounds like they were going to do you anyway even if you hadn't asked for a raise. Otherwise they'd have just said no to the raise.

You've got talent and hopefully lots of local contacts. Just go out there and keep reminding them your available. Top notch people get hired by top notch outfits fairly soon.

Don't sweat the small stuff. We'll do our best around here to pick up the slack until you get back up to full power.

Hey ya wedo. If you have been able to tell by my stats the last good while, you can easily see that I can't come up with 15ghz to bail you out this time! ;o) I will however see what I can find for ya!

Who know's? I may sneak enough in to hold nik off long enough for you to come up with a plan! =)

Ah well, good luck finding a new IT job.

Well instead of us all saying we are so sorry for him losing his job which is a bad thing but in life you are given bumpy road and sometimes very curvey but most of us just get our self's back together and find somewhere better to drive with new pavement. So I think we (overclockers forum's people) should give some of our WU's to wedo sence he has lost his main source of folder's.

P.S. I hope you find somewhere that has 100+ p4's and claim the #1 or #2 spot again and best of luck.

I still haven't found any decent work in my area due to the perennialy poor local ecconomy and age discrimination. So I'm working on a career in nursing where age isn't as big a factor and the pay is better than average. My first choice of computing/IT jobs are not only scarce here but low paying too. It's a buyers market anymore.

LA ought to be a much better market for Wedo.

sorry to hear that wedo :( good luck on finding a new job

who knows, maybe this could be a good thing, you might find a better higher paying job, that has good bosses, and that are pro- folding, and has 3 times the comps to borg :D

dosent that sound like the ultimate? :D

anyways, i hope you find what you are looking for.

Sorry to hear about this.
good luck!
Cheers!

Aggreed. I do tech support for Verizon DSL & Dialup.

We handle the entire country except the old tele network in the north east.

It seems to me that there are more idiot IT people in CA than any other part we deal with. You' be gold there Wedo =) Just watch the insane gas & cost of living prices!

AA Move down here to Alabama...

More medical people per capita and per population in Jefferson County than any other place in the world.

Many great medical schools, hospitals & pp's. There's always room for nurses down here. I worked in a hospital for 9 months, I know. <g>

I'll get my degree here since I essentially have free housing. Paid my house off in 95 :D

Then I'll be able to live anywhere in the country I want ;)

... and afford to build and run as many folding layers as I want too

Thanks for all the kind words team, I really appreciate it.

So a quick update:

It seems that my drop in production was due to the move as the farm and Barton powered dually is still without Internet access. Add the other xp1800 and thus equals about 500 ppd I'm losing right now. At least for now it seems the computers at my old job are still folding 24/7 so we'll just cross our fingers that they stay that way for awhile.

The good news is that I've solved half of the Internet issue (the conneciton to SBC/Yahoo) and now have to go out and buy a wireless bridge to get everything connected.

On the job front, things look really good. I have more friends then I thought I did, or I should probably say I have more friends with nifty computer connections than I originally thought. So I have no less than four strong leads and a few moderate opportunities as well that I will begin to pursue this week. If it all works out I should be able to make a nice jump up in tax brackets. :D

w00r to the fold,
Wedo
