I am planning to get an AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz AXIA or 1.33 AYHJA but Im still quite new in overclocking. May I know which is a better buy and what board will it be best to go with ?. Please advice and tell me your opinion. I really appreciate if any of you guys out there to help me OC that chip !. Thanks a lot !

Both of those chips will probably do well, but a good place to start would be the CPU database on the main page. The listings show how high people got with the chip and often times, what board they used.
Your gonna get a lot of mixed opinions about the best OC board right now, especially if you are looking for a DDR ram board... as the chipsets are somewhat immature still. Are you looking to go DDR ram or SDram?
If its DDR, then the Epox 8K7A is supposed to be a good one... or maybe an Iwill. Abit is supposed to come out with a board called the KG7 pretty soon that is predicted to do well. Check out the AMD mobo forum too, this same question has been asked there a number of times.

If you are going to get the AXIA do not waste your money on a 1.2, get a 1.0 ghz 200 fsb "B" chip, that way the multiplier is set on 10 and you do not have to unlock it. You just set your bus at 133 - 150 whatever you can get out of it. I have 14 AXIAS running here 24/7. The 266 bus is no better than 200, they all go between 1400 and 1500. As far as the AHYJA I think the 1.4 is the only one thats any better than the AXIA's, I just ordered my first AHYJA yesterday, a 1.4. Good Luck!!

Well, ckälvin..what is your budget? Do you care a great deal about a likely upgrade path?
There are a lot of overclock friendly motherboards in play at present. If you are looking for ultimate clockspeed, you should opt for what is likely to be the best candidate for a the highest ultimate clockspeed. As of posting time, there is some evidence that a processor with stepping code 'AYHJA', and the first character of the third line a letter, such as 'Y' is your best candidate.
For less than $120.00 USD you can purchase the now plentiful 1Ghz 266Mhz T-birds with the stepping code of 'AXIA' with a letter, such as 'Y' as in the conditions above. This is definitely the way for a budget overclocker to go....IMHO.
You need to determine whether or not DDR is the right choice for you at this juncture. An AMD 760 north bridge equipped motherboard is becoming a viable alternative to a Via equipped SDRAM solution. If I had to choose right now, it would be a very difficult choice indeed, with quality memory at a price parity, and a small premium for a motherboard.
You need to keep cooling at the top of your list, and design a cooling system around your objective. A top tier HSF, along with a well designed and executed case cooling solution are a must.
A high quality power supply is also a must. I would opt for something like an Antec PP403X, as it is AMD recommended, and supplies a great deal of power to the critical combined (3.3v + 5v) rails. I don't think that a 400Watt PSU is overkill in this situation.
As far as motherboard recommendations are concerned, I have three Iwill KK266 motherboards, and am happy with their performance..this would be my choice for an SDRAM motherboard.
I assembled a DDR system over the past week, and it is based on an Epox 8K7A. Thus far it has proven to be a great performer.
Get some more opinions, and decide for yourself what path you wish to take.
Cooling and power are my priorities..in that order. Then I research as fully as possible the other choices.
Cheers,
T
