View Full Version : HSF and SLOT A
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will take a look at some of those. I think I forgot to mention that my Athlon 700 is Slot A not socket. I heard this was not as good? anyway, does this limit any of those HSF you all suggested?

if its a tbird 700 then it is as good as a socket tbird 700-same core. I have a slot tb 750 that rocks even at default speed. I have had it up to 900 mhz with a crappy GORB with better cooling a gig.

Hi KT
I'm assuming you have a classic Athlon like I do since you have a KX133. I recently overclocked my 750 to 1000 without a hitch.
First, I have two questions:
1) Have you opened the case to see what the actual core speed is?
2) Do you have a GFD (or somewhere to get one)?
Just cutting a hole in each side of my case and adding cheapo 3" fans lowered my temp about 5c.
Now that it's getting hotter here, it runs about 42c under load, so I ordered one of these:

It looks pretty nice and the price is right.
.18 Athlon classic 750@1000 (10x100)
Epox 7kxa
320MB PC133 cas3
Geforce2mx 32mb

Not so bad news, just remember that socket and slot coolers can't be used on different CPU's! So you have to look for SLOT-A coolers, not socket. Please buy a decent heatsink, if you are planning on overclocking, you won't regred it! Succes finding a good cooler!
