I was just looking at the scores at futuremark. I'm really supprised at how poorly the 9600pro does in comparison to even the 9500. Is this for real or is just that no one post there scores

The 9600pro is better than the 9500np unless the 9500 has been soft modded to a 9700np.

Your right in thinking that the 9600pro is not as good as the 9500pro thats because the 9500pro uses 8 pipes as oppose to the 4 pipes of the 9600pro. The trouble is you will be hard pushed to find a 9500/9500pro for a desent price if at all so a 9600pro is the only way to go.

It's for real. Even a 256bit 9500np that won't mod is alot faster when both overclocked.. not sure about the 128 bit ones.

Damn, I guess I should have gotten the 9500pro when I bought the 9600pro. Oh well, live and learn.

no use crying over spilt milk right? true, the 9500pro with 4 extra pipes will pretty much kill a 9600pro when both are at stock, but the 9600pro is still a damn fine card. Some of the folks with 9600pro's have hit some absolutely insane o/c's for some wicked performance for that card. So give it a shot, you may get alot more than u think from it.

I think pkrew already beat my 9600 score by a spot on 2k1:) It looks like you have the 4th highest score in the world there with a 9600 so it's must not be doing too bad.. Monday when i have a real 9600 Pro it's all over for everyone though:D You should only publish one score with the same system btw, you are knocking some people off the front page

You're quite right q149, Is there anyway to delete them once they're posted. I have no doubt that you'll cream me with your system:). I think I rank about the same in 2003 and I'm number one on aquamark. Most of the fast systems have better cards however and your 9600 if I remember right was a castrated version.

Just go in project manager and uncheck publish on all but the highest one then click save or update. Yes, my 9600 i used there is a POS and the memory would only clock to 290 with full vmods which is less than a stock 9600 Pro. Most those high scores are with 9600Tx which uses the same core as a 9700 but on worse pcb/memory.. finally i should dethrone all the Tx users tomorrow.

If you really really want a 9500 PRO they are still around on Ebay (however i couldn't recommend buying there).

I must have been the last person to buy a new ATI 9500 PRO at $190. Every Retailer i checked was out of stock the next week.

All right I'll fix it up. I'll keep try to get better, but I'll be lucky if I pass the 15700 mark.

Looks like you only need about 55 points for 3rd
Got my PowerColor 9600p today. Like i expected, it has Samsung 2.8ns memory and the extra caps and stuff for an fdd power connector.
480/360 out of the box and got it to 567/375 so far with vgpu/vdd/fdd mods.

Scored 16515 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7080874 ) on my first run taking 1st by a long shot. Hopefully i can get 17k:D

What is yours clocked at and did you do any of the mods?

Mines at 533/357 without any mods. Where do you find out how to do them? Congradulations on your score. No chance on beating that :D.

I took first in aquamark and 03 now too:D Still not done going yet though.

That is awesome core clock for stock. The PowerColor one i just got today did 480/360 stock. Stock Vgpu was 1.22v and stock Vdd was 2.77v. For 567 core i have Vgpu at 1.43v.

We figured out the mods on Rage3d but it is down right now.. someone made a site with all them but i forget it and would have to check Raged3d to find the URL.

There is Vgpu, Vdd, and a mod to add a fdd power connector like on a R300 card. The fdd mod only works on some pcb's.. I'll put a link up if rage3d ever gets back up

Alright, here (http://www.unoid.net/9600pro/) is the site with the mods. It has the Vdd, Vgpu, and Fdd mods on it for the most common pcb type, it also lets you know how to check if your card can take the fdd mod. An easier way to check is to just look around where it should be and see if your missing any caps or anything.

Congradulations on you number one scores :D and thanks for the link. That's twice you've helped out my system. I finally broke 15700 today, but still a couple of points behind 3rd place. I'll check out your Aquamark score and the mods. Maybe I'll try to brave them. See if I can get over 16000.

Well Q, my 9600pro died. I had finished the voltage mod and was putting the Giant II back on and dropped the damn thing. It knocked off one of the ram sinks that I had epoxied on. Unfortunately it took one of the ram chips with it. Bummer :( The only good thing I can say about it is that I was able to pic up a 9800np at Best Buy for 240.00 which has the 2.86ns Samsung ram. There's a comp show in town this weekend if I can find a good cheap 9600pro there maybe I'll pick it up.

That suck.
You basically just got a 9800 Pro for 240$ though.. that is awesome.
I broke 40k in aquamark now..i still havent gotten 17k though.. i think i maxed this card out at 606/375. I ended up increasing gpu voltage from stock 1.22 all the way to 1.63 lol

That's incredible. Great job. It'll be a while before those scores are toped.

www.allstarshop.com has 9500 pro's in stock. Only place I could find one. If not, I was going to get a 9600 Pro. Can anyone offer me advice on how to OC my 9500 Pro? I've never OC'd a video card before so I want to do it right. It has the crappy infineon ram though which i believe runs at 3.3ns

just be glad you didn't get a 9600se... only a 64bit card. and you should be able to oc that thing pretty good.
