View Full Version : Question about OCZ Gladiator cooler
I just got in my OCZ Gladiator heatsink/fan, and it's making a horrible buzzing noise. I left the thermal pad that it came with on, yet I also applied a pretty good amount of paste. Would it be safe if I took a flat-head screwdriver and removed the thermal pad? Could this also be causing the buzzing noise? Any help in getting rid of this horrible buzzing will be greatly appreciated.

I dunno about the noise, but you should get rid of that thermal pad. Use some acetone and rub it off. About the thermal paste I recommend using Arctic Silver II.

I'm also sure this belongs to the 'cooling' section.

yes it should be in the cooling section, but thats ok. Just try to post in the correct topic next time.
Not sure about the buzzing noise, but what you want to do is remove the pad with rubbing alcohol or acetone(Nail polish remover) to get rid of the bad and the past, and then reapply some goop or paste. With a heatsink that good, you would be advisided to use Artic Silver 2 as your goop. Not sure about the buzzing sound, sounds like the fan is hitting something to me.
