Got the Arctic Silver II !!!!!!!!!

A little wonder. It is unavailable here, in Poland... but my friend who live in USA sent me this. Now I have 2 syringes of this beautiful silver thing on my table... and in Saturday morning, when rested and with full conciousnes... I will unmount the cooler, clean it, lap it again with 2000 sandpaper... then some AS II... and....

At now, with standard transparent silicon max stable (with prime95) freq I can run my Duron 750 is 980 MHz. 1 GHz is impossible (Windows starts, but prime 95 fails). Maybe with AS II I can run at 1 GHz...

Not to kill your mood or anything, but I was also that excited at the prospect of lapping and dabbing some as2 below my HSF to see my temps drop like mad.

of course they didnt, probably because i did a hack lapping job or didnt put the as2 on right
i tried a couple more times, no improvement :(
I just gave up.
Just try to do it right the first time, don't cut corners, be patient, or you might ruin something that could have done great things. and inquire in the cooling section about lapping and stuff.
some people report 600 grit is the place to stop at, others say you need a mirror finish
my understandnig is the flatter the surface, the less arctic silver is needed to fill in the valleys
so people reporting 600 as the sweet spot might be applying alot of as2 compared to those who use 1500+ grit.
be sure to clean the die and the heatsink with some acetone and isopropyl alcohol just to be sure!
