View Full Version : will f@h run on different users automatically?
if i install f@h on one user, will it automatically run when the other users log in(if im not logged in?) and if not is there a way to do this? btw this is on xp...
i just read over that and it sounds really weird and confusing...
heres an example...
if i install f@h on user 1, then user 2 gets on, restarts the comp and logs into user 2, will f@h run?

Depends. If you install it as a service it will run for all users. In fact if it is run as a service it runs even if nobody logs in. To me this is one of the reasons why the service install is the best route to go.

Yup! One Click install will make it work this way as well as the service install but if it's a standard install you have to tell it to start with all users.
is the service install on the f@h website?

No. The one-click and service installs are available at this forum if you search for them. One-click is in a thread titled "finally, the one-click install...." And you can find it by searching for the term "one-click".
Basically, you unzip it. Then use your own client.cfg file from the folding install you have now to replace the 2 client.cfg files included in the one-click files. Then run the installer. Then reboot.
One-click creates a directory C:\Program Files\FAH for folding. It happens as a background service, which means it is totally invisible to the user, except for being seen in the task manager's list of running processes. You can use other programs like Electron Micorscope 3 if you like having an easy, graphical way to see the progress of folding.
One-click and the service installer only work on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003, versions of windows that use the NT kernel.
to make a standard install run regardless of what user is logged on, you have to put the F@H shortcut in the startup folder here: c:\documents and settings\All Users\start menu\programs\startup
There ya go!

Problem with this is that if both users log in to the system you got 2 versions running. Better off using the service install ;)

And if those users log off, it's not folding. USE THE ONE-CLICK or SERVICE TO GET THE MOST WORK DONE.
Yeah, you guys are correct. I put that out there if any one still wanted to know how to do it. ;)
