Can you set the FSB with the wire in socket trick?

I need to set my FSB low enough to boot with a 24x multi, because my CPU is locked there due to my tomfoolery with the bridges. On my corrent motherboard this is done with dipswitches but Ive sold it and my new one has no jumpers or dipswitches. So like the title can you set the FSB with the wire in socket mod?
