Hi, I have A ABIT KT7a MOBO, and a duron 800 cpu.
I can raise the FSB of the cpu itself by 1mhz incriments. I raised it (default is 100-duh) to 101, and kept the multiplier at 8.

Now here's the deal: 101 x 8 = 808.....right?????

So how come when I did this, and restarted the puter, and then ran SISOFT CPU information, it told me my 800 duron was running at 813mhz?????

Explain please. Thanks

the clock generator that generates the frequencies isnt as close of a tolerance as you might think, its not producing EXACTLY 101mhz, just pretty close, since all components run off the same base clock generator slight variances are the same for all parts and make no difference, also different programs use different ways of determining exact CPU speed

every computer i build, runs 2mhz more than it says in BIOS LOL

i.e. this Duron, a 700, at stock 7x 100
actually is running at 702mhz

my K6-2 did this also...452mhz ... just a freaky thing.

not worth mentioning i guess... i'll shut up now :)

yea, everyboard is different

on default my cpu is 756.73 but that's only with 100fsb which is default

if u want to fine tune the fsb then i suggest u use cpucool 6.1.6
u change change the fsb in 0.1 increments
