I know there aren't that many Mac users here, but if you've been looking, here's (http://www.osxfaq.com/Tutorials/LearningCenter/) something you might check out. The terminal can be of much use (and entertainment, especially when your friends are watching you . . .).

EDIT** This starts out as VERY basic, so it's good for newbies to any command line (including DOS, except the commands are different in DOS).

That looks like something to email to my mom. She's just starting to go deeper into OSX (which for her means using iPhoto, but it's a step in the right direction). Thanks for the link.

After looking through it a little, it is very basic, but some of the terms would still be too intimidating for my mom. She may grep yet, but it won't be because of that tutorial.

Good linkage for other people, though.

I wish I could change the name of the thread, since that applies to Unix in general, I believe. I don't know if any are Mac-specific (I'm sure there are, but I doubt most of them are . . .). For the REALLY new newbies, that'll help in understanding what the GUI equivilent is for such commands, which is what most people find to be of greatest help. If they can't figure out what it's doing, they don't care to do it that way.
