Mmmmmmmm I just placed mine on the heatplate directly above the core...
How much did it lower your temps??

I seem to have a problem ever since i installed my GFD . i am running a 900tbird overclocked to 1000 mhz . in cpu cool my cpu is at 41.5 at full load and 35 c in case. Everytime i play unreal t for about 8-15 min the game will drop half frame rate . I then listened to my computer and it seems there isnt enough power running to the cpu or something. I have one of those non powered GFD. My voltage core is set to 1.85 but the bios reports 1.87 or 1.88. eventually it will go back to normal and the game plays at full speed. I dont know if its a heat issue or GFD. It runs fine without the GFD and at 900mhz at 1.77v. I recently bought a 700-1000mhz comp usa brand and it totally sucked. so i slapped on my 600-900mhz fan global win and its cooler but maybe not cool enough?? I ordered a thermal take gold orb rated up to 1.2 Gighertz and if that dosnt work i dont know then , what might you think it is??

Too be honest I have no idea as I did not have a working thermistor until after I applied the artic silver... some ppl report drops of up to 5C though...
My CPU temp hangs around 30-38C but my thermistor is just sitting at top of the heatplate inbetween the HSF (VOS32+)
"Me" your problem sounds a tad weird but I'd say it probably is a power issue... What PSU & m/b do you have?
Try upping the voltage to 1.9V & see if it fixes the problem..
I have a aopen 300 watt which runs really good. I put it back to 900 last night and ran with no problems. i did try upping it to 1.97 but it seem ti be very bugging when running games. The only other choice is 1.87. I think i was sold a crap GFD because it was hand made and its a no brand name.
I will try 950 today and see what happens but i have a feeling the GFD is the problem. If it still gives my the problem im going to upgrade to the 1.333 abit KG7 soon

Mmmmmm sounds like a plan.... I couldn't push my Slot A T-Bird very far.... Only gained 150MHz out of my 700MHz... & that was at 1.95V :p
i should easily get 1000mhz out of 900
