Im currently using cheap thermal paste, was wondering if it worth shelling out the bucks for a tubeof Arctic 2, whats the gain in cooling ??
(my heatsinks already lapped)

Hardy any here. but the main use for AS2 is that it doesnt dry up after a few months.

About 3 C. It means over 30 MHz of stability. Cooler was lapped before.
Other cooler which was not lapped - over 10C.
The worse cooler's surface, the better ASII can do.

If artic Silver II is applied properly, you should get from 5 - 8 c
lower temps. Check the artic Silver web site for proper application.

If you follow this, you will see good results. Overapplying Artic Silver
can actually keep your temps high, so don't put to much on. :)

I noticed about a 3*C drop on my AMD K6*2 when O/C'ed.

Not true... at least on an Athlon. "Overapplying" will just waste Arctic Silver, because a heatsink clamp properly specced for an Athlon CPU has enough force to squeeze out the excess properly and leave you with the proper film on the die (which is to say, almost none, just enough to conform to any imperfections on either surface).

A lot of P3 heatsinks have pretty half-assed clamps that would probably work better with a phase-change pad than with Arctic Silver.
