Note: This is a double post from the Operating Systems forum, as I'm not sure which it should go under.
I had a 60gig/40gig with the 60 gig as the master. I had Windows XP installed on the 60, then used Norton Ghost to ghost everything over to the 40 gig. Setting the 40 gig to master, I would boot up, but as everything got loaded at the desktop I got a blue screen. It said:
***STOP 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x8060AB13, 0xF7CAE9AC, 0x00000000)
Somehow, both the 60 and 40 displayed this same error after I ghosted it. I could start up in safe mode only. I tried to run the Windows XP Repair Setup from the cd but for some reason "repair" wasn't an option.
I then bought a new 80 gig and have set it has master, and have a fresh install of Windows XP on it. My 40 gig, with all my old windows and programs, is set as slave.
1.) Is there anything I can do to fix the 40 gig so it does not crash after starting up? I would like to do that, then ghost it to my new drive.
2.) If not, then this will have to do: I do have the 80 gig installed without a hitch, however it is installed as drive F:, and my slave 40 gig is installed as C:. Windows is running from F:, however I would like the drive letter to be the traditional C:, and switch the 40 gig slave to F:
3.) Any suggestions? I really would like to just have my computer back to normal without having to reinstall and reconfiguring everything since everything is "there" on the 40 gig slave... I just can't use it to start up successfully...
Thanks lots for any help
