Also my ati-all-in-wonder 9800 pro is acting funny. whenever i play a video or dvd or watch tv w/ it the picture is horrible , there is lil green bars all over the place and all this weird stuff. i have downloaded the new 3.7 drivers and all but to no help, Please help me, i know there are a lot of smart people in here bc i have used yall wisdom to help me build my new comp and also to learn more about o/c ing.oh yah , i hve not o/c this comp yet , so it is still all original. Welcome to the forums!

Have you installed the motherboard drivers for the system? If the sound is onboard, is the option configured in BIOS?

Green screen flashes and poor image quality are usually bad drivers. That's why I'd check that the MB drivers are installed and then reinstall the video drivers.

Service Pack 1 should fix the HDD issue. It adds support for large drives. Try the older drivers for the video card, look for MS WHQL drivers, since they usually have goe through more extensive testing.

One thing to try is to remove and reinsert the vid card back in the AGP slot (after powering down, and turning off the rocker switch on the PSU first of course). If the card isn't tightly seated in the slot, it can result in some weird problems.

yeah i tried that , this is just a really weird problem....

oh it is an agp pro slot , could that give some trouble if that lil piece that makes it regular agp slot?

There should be no issues with that card in that slot. Have you checked the with the motherboard manufacturer or ATI about any issues with compatibility?

WHQL is windows hardware qualification testing and the drivers and hardware go through a certification process to ensure compatibility.

well now i tried to install the new drivers and all and everytime i try , half way through it brings up a box that says missing inf file and now my tv or any of my multimedia stuff wont even work even if i try to install the original so i took a gforce 2 mx400 64mb i had lying around and put it in the pci slot and it works great so im about to try to put the ati aiw into my g/f comp and see how that turns out , i contacted ati yesterday and they told me to dwnld the new drivers and thats when the inf stuff started and also when i install the old ones. when windows is trying to come up the screen goes blank so im thinking its just a bad card and i need to return it to new eggg for a new one, what do you all think?

Its probably a bad vid card. I recently bought the same card and RMA'd it. New card has no probs.

While generally not plugging in the additional power cable for the video card will just cause instabilities, make sure you've connected it to the PSU with the included cable . . .

If you're trying to install drivers, make sure you've uninstalled the old drivers first. Try removing the device under Device Manager and then restarting . . .

And yes, it COULD be a bad card or an incompatability, but don't jump to that conclusion quite yet.
