Sure seems weird doing something like that opposed to the bridge or wire trick.

That is the wire trick. They just do the work for you.

I did the wire trick differently than how most do. I stick my wire down in the socket itself. Most ppl I have seen wrap the wire around the CPU legs.

$15 bucks!!! An even easier way is to connect the solder nubs on the back of the MOBO behind the socket with defogger paint.
