Old Build/New Build Problems

Well I'm building an old PC into a new PC to give to someone. Heres the deal its a Biostar Mobo not sure which one I forgot, with a 1.33 T-Bird, Geforce 4 mx440 SE, and 256 SDRAM. Well the problem is it will boot but I get no response from the monitor, and I cant shut It back down without turning off the power supply. Is it the motherboard? any suggestions to save me getting a diff one?
