View Full Version : Verizon DSL
I've had Roadrunner for a bit over two years now, and thought I would save a bit of cash by switching to Verizon DSL. Anyways, the service never really worked as it should; it was slow, almost on par with dial-up (but dial-up is more reliable than this) and customer service people that have their heads up their *****.
So I warn any of you out there... stay away from a giant like Verizon - I have never had the pleasure of using a service like theirs (I'd rather have gotten AOL). So now it's back to Roadrunner, maybe pretty soon I'll check out SBC or something.
Time Warner is a huge company, yes, but they do seem to care enough to give kickass service... even if it is a bit expensive.
Verizon talked my 68-year-old mother into DSL, although her location was at the very outer edge of performance, and as such never performed even close to guaranteed. After an abortive attempt(by Verizon) to get her to upgrade her machine, we were able to gong the service during the free trial period. Strictly no good.

I've had Verizon DSL since before Verizon owned my local phone. Maybe that's why they haven't had time to muck it up. Mine's been great for about 5 years.
seems to be mixed. but i will never try them out again.
I will probably be getting Verizon soon but there isn't much choice in my area right now. :(

I have had Verizon DSL for about 8 months now, and I have no problem with it. The price isn't bad, considering what I paid for AOL Dial Up. I got $29.99 the first 6 months and am now paying $34.99 a month. I am so happy to be rid of Dial Up, Verizon was definitely worth it.
In the beginning, they came out twice to fix my line, but the second time the guy replaced my old rusted phone box on the house, and I haven't had a problem since. They came out real quick too. Repair was free, but it might have been because I have that phone insurance thing. I recommend if you get Verizon DSL, definitely have the phone insurance!
My only complaint is that I am near the outer limits too, so I do not qualify for their highest speed stuff at 1500.
I am very happy with Verizon.
