My little 650 mhz Duron is now unlocked!! I dont know if it was the ambient temperature of my bedroom or what, but it is now unlocked and running at 933 mhz. Two days ago I noticed that it was idling at 47 degrees at 866 mhz (6.5x133). I kept trying to overclock it but it simply wouldnt budge. Juts a few minutes ago I noticed that it was idling at 44 degrees at the same sped, 866 mhz. So, seeing the lower temps I immediately decided to try it again. I removed the defogger paint, ran a straight pin through the small laser cut gap on the L1 bridges and then took 600 grain sandpaper to clean them off. I picked up my HB 2 pencil and traced the bridges about 10 times each. Popped it in, replaced the crappy heatsink and booted. I set the multipliers to 7 and the FSB jumper was at 100 mhz. BINGO! It booted at 700 mhz. So I set the Vcore to 1.70, powered down and removed the FSB jumper block so that it boots at 133 mhz FSB. Bam..it booted at 933 mhz and runs stable as a rock. It's now idling at 48 degrees, which is kinda high. Im not sure if it was heat ot the L1 connection that was preventing me from o/c'ing. I guess I should have left the defogger paint on and tested it. I'll shutdown and post the conclusion here. A huge thanks goes out to those that offered advice in my previous posts! =)

I'm wondering if the Vcore needs to be so high though. I had a couple of 600Durons that ran around 1035 without bumping the Vcore at all. Just an observation about temps., after having the Durons I got a 750Tbird (@1035) which runs considerably cooler than the Durons. I know the arguement about the Tbird having extra cache and should therefor run hotter but they also have a larger die that offsets this and allows for a better transfer of heat to the sink.

Now this is wierd. I removed the pencil lead, re-applied the defogger paint and rebooted. It's back to the same old crap....the multipliers arent unlocked. Now, I removed the defogger paint, repenciled it using the same pencil and it's still locked. I tried cleaning the bridges in the same fashion but still no go. I guess I'm going to have to try the silver conductive ink.

i used defogger paint on my bro's 700 duron. Running 933 right now(1 gig coming soon). You may have something crossed or not quite connected.

Ya it sounds like you may have crossed or not even connected a brides or 2-use a magnifying glass to make sure- i mean those bridges are SMALL and you can never ASSUME that it is done correctly-if its correct than the multiplier should work-but you may have a weird chip

Nice R1-got a 99 CBR900RR myself

Jason... 900 or 929? That's not the pic of mine though. I dont have any pics of it, so I grabbed that from Yamaha's site and used it. MY R1 is a 2001 model with a new M4 exhaust system, Dynajet jet kit, and alot of carbon fiber work...mainly the front and back fenders. I raced a couple of friends the other day....Chris has a 2000 Honda CBR929RR and Todd has a 1999 Suzuki GSX R1000. I beat both of them by a couple seconds. They won't race me again. *hehehehe* Also got a challenge from a GSK1300R Hayabusa owner. Ill probably race him in a couple weeks. Wish me luck!! hehehe

I got a 99 CBR 900RR-i hate to say it but ill beat you, and the 929-now the gixxer 1 and the Busa will whip me. I raced a 929 and an R1 2 ago-both my friends and CAN RIDE. The reason is that the 2000 or later model bikes are speed goverened as seen on speedvision. The r1 and the 929, my 9 is not speed goverened. Micron Exhaust, dropped 1 tooth in the front-tons of mods. I smoked the 929 EASY, and the R1 was keeping up till bout 167mph., then i pulled away due to no govenor and more torque from dropping a tooth-he topped out a 176(speed showed) and i left him reading 191(speedo showed) even if they are incorrect speeds i was still 25mph faster at redline in 6th gear. Not judgeing your skills- but the same rider on a 900RR and a 2000 R1 the RR will win. thats my thought

LOL All in good fun-i mean all rider have big ego's
