hi,
I bought a Duron 800 a couple of days ago... I have had it runnning @ 920 default vcore using FSB for 3 days running 3D mark 2001 demo looped to burn it in.
I thought i would give this l1 bridge joining thing ago to unlock the multiplier.
I penciled it in with a 5H pencil, and wow, it didn't work... i kept trying and trying and trying.
I could change the multiplier to 5,5.5,6,6.5,7,7.5 and 8. but as soon as i tried to go over the 8 mark it said the CPU was a 500 @ 9 and a 600 @ 9.5.
I got it to post at 950, 9.5x 100 once but not any more.. i have tried a 2h, hb and 5h pencil and still no go.
anyone got any ideas?
btw, my mobo is a k7t turbo -r

use a conductive pen or defogger paint. First remove the pencil with an erasor. Check it with that and see if you still have the same probs. I don't think you did your penciling right.

I am pretty sure its penciled right...
it is covered with graphite and the graphite doesn't touch.
I can't understand why it works fine to 8 then after that its stuffed!

Found the problem..
its with the MSI K7T turbo.
It doesn't like anything more than 9x multiplier and goes back to 5 when its set to that.
Thankfully i found a great article that has a workaround right here on Overclockers.com.
Works great now... thought someone might care so i posted this =)
