I'm looking to get a new 19" CRT monitor and was considering a Viewsonic P95F+. For those of you with this monitor, can you tell me how noticeable the grill lines are? Have they been able to reduce the visibility of these at all over the years?

If they're still pretty noticeable I'll probably opt for something like the G90fB or another similar model.

One thing for sure...Once you go aperature grill you will never go back to shadow mask...The lines are only really noticable with white or light back ground...;)

I don't have that monitor, but I have a Iiyama Vision Master Pro 451, which is a 19" CRT with aperature grill.

I agree with Hookem that the two lines are not that noticeable, but the quality is much higher than with shadow mask.

Interesting, thanks for the input guys. The AG models aren't that much more expensive than the SM models these days, so I'll probably just end up getting the P95F+ if the grill lines aren't bothersome like you say.

I've had the Viewsonic P95F for two years and I love it. When I do buy an LCD, it won't be to replace it but to complement it. Dual monitor combo. As for the AG lines, you can notice if you look for it. I just fired up notepad and maximised it and I can see two lines....just. The screen is easy to clean unlike others which seem to smear. (I use anti-static cleaner) No harsh chemicals to ruin anti-glare coating. I don't know if the P95F you're looking at buying is the same tube as mine though. I think it's a Diamondtron. I did notice a slight ghosting on browser scroll bars though when contrasted with dark colours but then that might be due to me not properly calibrating my monitor or adjusting accordingly.

Still a highly recommended monitor. 9/10. One of the best computer buys I've made and one that should last a few more years. Can you tell I love my Viewsonic? :D

I just picked up my P95F+ a couple of days ago. I am using it to replace my 19" Cybervision C92-2 which was a little over four years old but still working pretty well. While overall it's pretty good it's not as good as I had hoped.

The grill lines aren't a problem as they're only visible when the display is white, and they're not even all that visible then. The biggest annoyance though is how the bright white reflects off of the glass in front of the screen, creating a kind of washed out white effect. It's a shame that this happens because of how good the picture quality is other than that. It also renders their "ultrabrite" modes useless because when the brightness is that high the reflection on the screen turns the blacks into greys. I turned down the brightness to compensate a bit, but of course I don't want to turn it down too much.

Other than that problem, everything else is very good. That problem is big enough though that I wish that I had picked up another monitor that doesn't suffer from the same problem instead.
