Hey all. At my local PC store they are offering the AMB T-Bird @ 1.4 Ghz now... and my question is this... is it really worth the extra $40 to get it? I mean, it can't be that big a difference from the 1.333 Ghz one, right? Please gimme yer opinions. : ) Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure the 1.4 chip would be worth $40 more. If you intend to overclock, then just comparing the serial numbers of the chip can prove helpful. The latest beginning code of AYHJA looks to be really great at OCing, and if both chips are AYHJA's, then there is probably no difference in them.

Performance differences between 1.33 and 1.4 on the same FSB setting would be pretty negligible. So what I'd say, is if the 1.4 is an AYHJA, and the 1.33 isn't (AXIA's are good though), then it may be worth another $40 as long as you plan to overclock.

However, if you don't plan to overclock or the 1.33 is an AXIA or AYHJA chip, then you'd be just as happy and $40 richer with teh 1.33 :)

Also, you may notice our forums are divided into various topics. We all try our best to keep a post in the correct forum topic. For instance, this post would fit better in the "AMD cpu's" category. So please in the future try to keep posts in the correct topics :)
