Does anybody know if there are any decent DirectX 9 games out right now? I'm looking for an action/FPS game w/ killer graphics. I really want to see how my rig handles dx9!

Halo is dx8 isn't it?
Think I'll pass on Tomb Raider, I heard it controls like sh!+.
Evnas: experiencing brainfart ATM... whats SWG stand for?
OC Noob: You're prolly right, but I've got this card oc'ed. I wouldn't mind seeing how it handles "real world" dx9. Instead of crying at the bad framerates I get in 3dmark03!

James you mean to say that if i had a Radeon the game would have looked even more sexy ???
Thats right...i forgot about Halo :D
SWG is Star Wars Galaxies
And Halo may be 2 years old for the X-Box, but MS didnt just port it from X-Box to PC. They reworked the entire API for DX 9...thus my theory on why its taken them 2 years to get it on the PC

Good theory... I've been wanting to pick it up for pc too (I have the x-box version already). I guess this is just another reason to go get Halo PC!

id check the halo threads here if i were you. all is not peachy with the game. Having said that though, despite its problems, i still prefer it to the xbox version.

Yea, I checked out the threads. I'm kinda waiting to see if GearBox releases a patch to help with ppl's framerate ailments.
I really don't have much problem with turning off AA/AF and playing in 800x600. I don't NEED huge resolution to have fun, although the huge resolution does look aweful purdy!
I am an x-box fanboy, so by default, I am also a Halo fanboy. :D
I guess an alterior motive for starting this thread, is to guage how soon I'm going to upgrade my video card. My rig is only 3 months old! So, I'm trying to make the most out of what I've currently got, before I go drop more $$$ on a high end video card.

I was half joking with the first post.
What you could do is sell your card on fleabay and buy a 9700+ radeon card. That is if you are really interested in DX9, since FX cards will probably defaulting back to DX8 in a lot of DX9 situations. Plus, it should be easy to sell a 256 mb card for a good price since everyone thinks bigger is better.
Really, once gfx get to a certain point there isn't that much of a difference and trading your card for a R300 card probably isn't worth it unless you really, really want full blown DX9.

Yea, I got sucked in by the 256ddr too. I might be able to get a little money out of it. Not a bad idea! :)
I might skip the r300's completely, and get a new card when the r400's come out. This card seems to be ok for now. I'm going to try and oc it further & slap a 92mm fan next to it. (discussion for another thread!) I'm also curious about how nVidia's v50 "optimized for dx9" detinators actually handle dx9.
I think I may pick up Halo PC (even though I've played it countless times on x-box) or Max Payne 2 (comes out in a week :attn: ).
