Anybody else having problems with Norton anti-virus after the common client files update of 10/7/03? My system boots fine to the desktop then hangs for about 2 minutes before finally finishing the start up. I emailed Systematic's and they suggested my resources were low or I needed to optimize my system. Are they kidding with that? I would like to avoid a reinstall if possible.

IMO Symantec is playing the tech support blame game. Though I see no update for 10/7 (just ran LU and it says Im current, 10/2) so not sure about that. it may be that norton is doin a virus scan with the new definitions. have you tried rebootiong a cpouple times to see if it keeps doing it.

I just got home and checked, I was off on the date 10/2 is the right date. I have seen on a couple of other boards people are having the same problem. It is not happening with 2004 only NSW 2003 and older. I may have to reinstall and not load the common files update. Just not turning off the computer until I get this figured out

I think I fixed it in case anyone cares or has a similar problem.

The problem went away when I went into "Run"-> services.msc and changed the Symantec Event Manager from automatic to manual. I still have NAV auto-protect set to load at startup in NSW. It seems fixed and I think everything is loading that is supposed to be loading including Norton antivirus auto-protect without any delays.
