Hey everyone,
I am planning to purchase the Duron 800 processor with the Abit KT7A motherboard and CoolMaster DP5-6H51 fan from AccessMicro.com

Currently I have a 450mhz AMD K6-3 system which I sucessfully assembled last year. I have 192mb pc100 sdram, Nvidia TNT2, and a pa-2013 mobo with 2mb cache.

I thought it was time for an upgrade and I want to push the processor to a stable 1ghz.
I was wondering if it was a good idea to OC it to 1ghz using only the DP5-6H51 heatsink\fan. Since this is my first time overclocking, I don't want to use pletiers or nuclear powered water cooling etc.. :)
Since my ram is pc100, is it risky to run the FSB at 133mhz?
Should I stick with 100mhz fsb x 10?

Any other tips\suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
JiF (jif718@earthlink.net)

PS - I am aware of the #2 pencil method.

When I only had the Abit KT7, my 600 Duron ran 10x100 @ 1.85V quite effortlessly. It is a lot more work to get it from 1.0G to 1.1G. I sincerely recommend a better HSF. The GlobalWin CAK-38, ThermalRight SK6, Taisol CGK-7600092, Millenium Glaciator and if you have real deep pockets, the Swiftech MC-462. None of those HSFs are cheap, but they are an investment that will outlast your Duron and probably your next two Tbirds. Invest wisely once, instead of poorly several times.

get a duron 600 if you can find it you will do much better in the long run and also the hsf is important. get something without the delta fan at first and if you are a nutbar then go for the noise!!! any how the Fop-32 is cheap and good try www.coolerchips or pricewatch. 1.33 AXIA for 159 at Bzboys.com will do 1500!
