man this chip can do alot more
posted over 1600 but just way too hot
@ 1500 @ 2.08 volts im breaking 60C
and i got a lapped FOP38 with 2 delta 38's stapped on it and artic silver
now what im thinking is what is amd going to do when every OEM has to go to water cooling?
heehee
maybe they will bring out this new pure silacine stuff there talking about .............
anyone know?

Very nice overclock - Congratulations

nice, great speed. well... there *are* better heatsinks than the fop, but then again not everyone would want to buy one. also, i think the palamino is supposed to run a bit cooler? that would help with what you mentioned. another problem i see is that a lot of cases only have room for maybe 1 or 2 case fans, and sometimes you need more. modding isn't hard, but how many 'normal' people would be modding their cases just to run a faster amd chip?

It's sad but when palomino reaches very high clockspeeds, it too will require..for an OEM, extreme cooling measures. What is really needed is a process shrinkage..once AMD goes to 0.13µ, this should help in that area.
By the Way..Nice O/C!

AZZKICKER, =)
nice o/c
u should try out Hoot's cohesive air cooling
Tis very good
I have an AXIA 1200 overclocked to 1496 on an ASUS A7V133
Temps sit around 53 degrees in ASUS Probe, which means around 44 in Bios.
Thats 11X 136. At any higher than 140 FSB the memory isn't that stable (Kingsmax PC 150 cas 2). I downed the FSB and upped the multiplier to get it from 1449 to 1496. Prolly the same in benchmarks due to the reduced FSB, but I got that magic "1496" coming up on dos boot, and that's what it's all about, eh!
The 1200 AXIA's are great chips!

well read my case air flow article on the main page under case cooling " what fans do " and you will see there is more than enough air in my case
and how loud it must me in my 4 corner room
now for hoot's thingie.......give me a link because i missed that one somewhere
and also the millinum copper cooler should be here soon
so maybe we will see just how fast it will go
and when my water cooling kit comes ( HURRY UP SURLYJOE AND SEND IT ) then i think ill be boasting about 1550+
well my hopes are high i guess we will just see
I'm jonesing so bad for my computer it's not even funny. Supposibly I'll have my Kt7a and Aquastealth II kit today (bought them used off of ebay for 150 combined!) I have my AXIA 1.2/266 sitting here waiting for a motherboard to put it in! I'm just about to pop because I've got a week off of night class so could actually sit down and do this!
As part of my "thingie" project, I tried substituting my FOP heatsink for the MC462. That put to rest the theory that airflow is all it takes. Despite having similar amounts of fin/pin surface area, the FOP was not nearly as effective. I think the CAK heatsink, which, for all intent and purpose, is the copper equivalent to the FOP, a lot more performance can be realized. I'd like to believe that the OC community can agree that copper eclipses aluminum for HS design. That tenet only applies if you eliminate case ventilation from the total heat equation. 'mazingly, i havent gone nutso with the heatsink, my alpha 6035 with a delta fills my needs nicely.... However, my case has over 400 CFM of airflow, and a couple of extra heatsinks on the northbridge, southbridge and the FET's... Combo of artcic silver and superglue works great..... Once my vid. card comes back from repairs, i will try out the new case/heatsink settings.... hopefully hit 1600 stable at cas2.... then on to 1700.... :-)

MAn, here we are talking about gettin 1.5, and 1 .6GHz out of our procs. I remember not to long ago, I bought a PC Magazine and the front page that got my attention was:
AMD To Hit 1Ghz!!
When I saw it I was like W0W!
Man, technology goes fast as hell, but kicks some serious a*s.

yes sir
the FOP is a god heatsink but i know it isnt the best
got a copper millinium heatsink coming and a water cooling kit so i think ill be pushing this cpou all the way past 1.6ghz
might have to do phase 2 of the voltage mod though
well we will see and you guys know ill push it till it either runs or breaks!!

hey azz, let us know how well the mellenium and watercooling works. got a fop38 myself, and got watercooling ready for once i upgrade mobos. looking at maybe a mellenium in between time so i can get a few more mhz out of my tbird ;-)
