alright.. i'm finally down with OCing. heres what i did.. i've up the fsb to 140mhz. (the farthest i can go before win2k wouldnt load.. btw. what is a good OC O/S?) multipliers are set to 11.. first it wasnt soo stable. (so is the 140mhz fsb.. so i uped the VMEM voltage to 2.7). so i increased the vcore to 1.77 (this is stable with 1540mhz). when i tried anything higher than a 11 multiplier setting... it wouldnt boot. i've increased the vcore voltage to 1.8 and still no gold. is there anything i can do to make it go faster? or is this the end of my little overclocking experience?
some specs.

thanks for responses in advance :)

Ive reached the same overclocking that youve reached 1.540 with aircooling. My cpu temperatures fluctuate too much and I get blue screens and errors anything above this. Ive reached 1.6 which i reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my operating system with the 1.6 overclock setting just to have it freeze up the first time Windows loads. I know that the cooler the temperature the more stable the cpu is so my next step is water cooling hopefully that will get me into windows with the 1.6 overclock good luck

on the core , there is a code at the bottom , like AXIA or AVIA

it has ayhja code. i cant get it to boot higher than a 11 multiplier setting... i maxed the voltage to 1.85 and still i cannot boot. i've tried 142 fsb but w2k will hault in the middle of loading.. temp is not a problem.. i'm at 1540 and still getting around 46C full load in AC room and around 49C in non-AC

what seems to be the problem here.. theoratically... it wont crap out unless its at a really high temp right? the temp is decent... it can handle some more. is it the core voltage? is that why it cant boot? my board can only go up to 1.85 core volts.... (iwill KA266). any suggestions?

I suggest you try to get your temp below 40C. The higher your temp goes the less your cpu can o/c. Hoot had a good analysis of it in one of the threads. I am able to reach 1.6 with my 1.33 AXIA, but only Prime 95 wouldn't work. My mobo FIC AD11 isn't too good which leaves me with a 133 FSB, which limits my o/c. Try getting you CPU cooler, by blowing cold air directly onto your HSF. Test and see if you can go higher. WHat HSF are you using?

i thought below 50C was good... its kinda tough to make it below 40C. its running at 1540+ you know. i got a swiftech MC370 HSF with stock fans.

Eh? The FIC AD11 has multiplier selection via DIP, and FSB selection via BIOS. Although it doesn't have 1MHz increments, it does do 133, 138, 140, 144, 150.

Not that it matters on the majority of AXIAs, which won't go above 1536 anyway. Mine's at 1536 on an AD11 @ 11.5x133. It also worked perfectly at 11x138 (1520) but failed at 11x144, 11.5x138, and 12x133. I haven't bothered testing the two in between - 11x140 and 10.5x150 - because even if they worked, they'd be borderline stable and I want stable stable.

i'll try to unplug everything tomorrow ... (hd, cdrom, nic.. etc... ) to see what is causing the lockup.. if nothing works.. then i guess i would be happy at 1540... thats 207mhz more than default. so its good i guess.

I'm running at 1536 and get temp of below 40C at load with Prime 95 and Quake 3 Arena for hours. Hoot gave me a briliant idea, by ensuring that cold outside air gets to the HSF. He used a blower with tubing to achieve very impressive results. I didn't want anything sticking out of my case. So I took a 92 mm fan cut a hole in the case above the HSF. Made a "pipe" out of carton that was about 3'' long and mounted in onto the fan. That left a clearing of less than 1/2'' between the pipe and the MC462 with delta. This way the air being pushed in from the 92mm fan is sure to go into the HSF fan. Result a 10C drop in my CPU temp. To ensure no pressure build up. I cut another hole in the top of case (MID tower) and put a similar 92 mm fan in. System cold and I'm happy.

As to the FIC AD11. I run 12x133 with a core of 1.9 V. Everything works fine. Temps are touching 40C under load. The problem is that Prime 95 gives me an error. So I went back to 11.5x133. I have CAS 2.5 mem, which I run at CAS2. SO if I up the FSB I have to go back to CAS 2.5 which I don't like. The mobo also isn't too stable at 138+, even if I drop the CAS to 2.5. I would love to run 12x140. I think the CPU would do it. But the mobo is too restrictive. Next time I will get a Abit or something.

My 1.333 can't Handel a FSB of 140 and multiplier higher than 11 either but I did get it to 1636 136x12 I am using the MC462. at 2.14v vcore. I don't know what the temp is (thermal probe is bad) but it is stable run's seti 24/7.

i maxed out my core voltage to 1.85 but it wouldnt boot above 11 multi... is there some way i can get more voltage in my bird? i have an Iwill KA266 board.

try backing down the FSB to 133
then try 11.5

my 1.2 gig AXIA chip dont like 11 mul either but 11.5 works just fine
